24 March 2012

Only four weeks until the 2012 IBIS Single Speed Champs of Awesomeness and the event is shaping up to be a whole lot of fun.

We have a couple of great options for the race track.  We just can’t decide how mean we should be.  I guess it will depend on how we are feeling on the day of marking.  No matter what we decide on, we strongly suggest a low gear, i.e., 32 x 19 (not as steep as Queenstown SS nationals, but steeper than Rotorua and Napier SS nationals).

We have been lucky enough to book Deville’s for the after party, these guys specialise in good sounds, great food and of course spring and fern beers. Single speeders can start their occupation from 6.00 with prize giving at 6:30.  Beer (one free with entry) available on arrival and food from 7:00, which is also included in your entry.  For supporters and partners of competitors that want to have a meal at Deville, they can purchase a meal ticket for $15 (purchasing instructions on website).

Enter now before it is too late, as the event is limited to 150 competitors and entries close on April 13th.  We are planning to bring the feral randomness back to single speeding so sign up and try your luck.

The spot prize of awesomeness

IBIS have kindly donated an IBIS Tranny as the major spot prize.  These carbon fibre hard tails have been ridden to 3 single speed titles in NZ (Tim Wilding, Anja MacDonald and Brenda Clapp).  They are light, sexy as all hell and could be yours. All you have to do is enter the 2012 IBIS single speed champs of awesomeness.

This photo is an example only.  The bike build kit and colour may vary. It’s definitely gonna be a sweet as IBIS carbon hard tail if your number is drawn.
